Celebrating Impact and Innovation at the CMP Annual Summer Event

We marked a successful year with its Annual Summer Event earlier this month. Over 75 guests from the realms of defence, academia, and industry attended, spotlighting the rich diversity within our network. The event served as both a celebration of CMP's achievements and a launch pad for the much-anticipated 2022 Annual Review.

The evening’s highlight was an insightful conversation between special guest, Steve Blank, renowned for developing the Lean Startup methodology and our Chair of the Board, Dr. Ali Hawks. Steve discussed the evolving role of AI, the importance of fostering innovation within large organisations, and the need for the defence sector to maintain a competitive edge. Steve's thoughts resonated strongly with CMP's ethos of innovative problem-solving and entrepreneurial agility.

A focal point of the event was the unveiling of the 2022 Annual Review, exclusively available for our guests. This comprehensive document encapsulates CMP UK's journey over the past year, detailing how we've worked to strengthen the UK's National Innovation Base, inspire students towards careers in government, and instil an innovation mindset within the public sector.

Our unique approach has been to connect students with real government challenges, equipping them with practical tools from the commercial sector, such as the Lean Startup and Design Thinking methodologies. As a result, CMP UK graduates have gained a competitive edge in the job market. These efforts, coupled with the invaluable support of our government, industry, and academic partners, have enabled us as a small charity to make significant strides.

As we look forward, our aims remain the same, but we're scaling up. And we're excited to explore new sectors and offer a wider range of H4 courses, delving into emerging areas like Space, Sustainability, Health, and Local Communities. Collaboration with the MoD and government agencies will continue to be a crucial part of this expansion. This is a testament to the pioneering spirit at the heart of CMP UK and our commitment to challenging traditional education models.

We are grateful to everyone in our ever expanding ecosystem. Your ongoing support allows us to push boundaries, spark change, and prepare the change-makers of tomorrow.
